The Divine Names of God

This business about the “Name” is causing so many problems. Names mean something, the name of the LORD is His character as He spoke Himself in Exodus 34:5-7. “And the Lord descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.”

Elohim, from Companion Bible. “Its first occurrence connects it with creation, and gives it its essential meaning as the Creator. It indicates His relation to mankind as His creatures. Elohim is God the Son, the living “Word” with creature form to create; and later, with human form to redeem.” Since the Creator speaks all the languages of the world, He is happy to be worshiped by the “Name” of that language. It is His character which identifies which God He is, and that is the only way we will be able to tell the difference between the Sun of Righteousness [Malachi 4:2], and the Sun-god Satan.

Our Saviour wants to write His character on our hearts as stated in both New Testament and Old Testament, as both are in agreement. Hebrews 10:16 “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;” and Jeremiah 31:33 “But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.”

All this arguing about which name is the proper name is pointless if you don’t have the love spoken of in Matthew 5: 44-48. “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”

In these end times the Lord God Almighty is building Spiritual Israel spoken of in Revelation 12:17. “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
