Display Venues

The entire historic district of Weaverville will display quilts and fiber art on storefronts, balconies, fencelines and porches. Stroll Main Street for a closer look at these beautiful works of textile art and chat with the artists who created them. Visit our Exhibitor's page for more info on displaying your quilts.

Stop by the Highland Meadow or Main Street Bandstand to receive your free Quilt Show program, the program contains maps & information, and may have a winning ticket for great door prizes!

The establishments listed below are going beyond outdoor displays and have devoted all or parts of their interiors to quilt displays. Free admission to all venues.

The Congregational Church Parish Hall will house Quilt Appraiser Laurie Short. Bring your quilts to be appraised for condition and value. Cost per appraisal is $20 per quilt. Appointments may be made in advance by calling Janet Taylor at 530.623.4410 before October 1 or arrive early to schedule an appointment on the day of the quilt show.

The Highland Art Center will display the quilts and textile arts of the Mountain Village Quilters Guild on the veranda and grounds of their lovely historic building. Quilts for the quilt auction will be displayed there for your consideration and inspection before bidding begins at 1PM. Located on Main Street across from the Museum.

The Highland Meadow will be populated with quilts, quilters and vendors of fabrics, supplies and equipment. Be sure to visit the Information Booth to get a program (many programs contain winning tickets for door prizes!) then purchase gift items and raffle tickets to support the Autumn in the Alps Quilt Show! Check out the selection of great raffle baskets. Live music all day, food vendors on site. Located next to the Highland Art Center.

NEW! QUILT AUCTION. A Quilt Auction will be held on the meadow stage starting at 1PM. This is your chance to bid and buy fabulous, locally made quilts for your home or gifts. Auction quilts will be displayed at the Highland Art Center for your viewing before the bidding begins. Custom quilts are an investment in color and comfort that will become cherished family heirlooms. Be there to enjoy bountiful bargains on beautiful bedcoverings.

The J.J.Jake Jackson Museum will display a stunning selection of historic quilts from their extensive textile collection. Join them for a Bed Turning to learn about the stories behind the quilts. Located at 780 Main Street, across from the Highland Meadow.

The Weaverville Bandstand will provide the backdrop for a display of student quilts and craft items. Located at the corner of Main and Court Streets.

Entertainment & Presentations

Bed Turning Presentation at the Jake Jackson MuseumBed Turning Threads of History will present a selection of historic quilts at the Jake Jackson Museum displayed as they were designed to be seen--on a bed! You will not only view some lovely old quilts, you will learn about the lives of the quilters and the history of these lovely textiles. 11AM, Noon, 2PM and 3PM at the Jake Jackson Museum, 780 Main Street. Free admission, donations are welcome and those received during the quilt show will be used to benefit the textile collection.

Fashion & Jewelry Show at the Highland Art Center. Features the painted-silk fashions of Natasha Foucault and the jewelry creations of several local artists.

Quilt Appraisals by Laurie Short at the Congregations Church Meeting Hall, located next to the Highland Meadow on the east side. Learn about the secrets your antique quilt has been keeping! Nominal fee for appraisals.

Live Music all day at the Highland Meadow. Great variety of music is sure to please everyone, come by for a toe-tapping, finger snapping good time. Having an event soon? Contact info for these great bands are listed below--call them up and make your occasion truly special

  • Weaverville Community Band - Weaverville's own concert and marching band is the pride of the community.   • The Mostly String - a good time is guaranteed when the Mostly String Band strikes up a tune. Trinity County's best Latin-Cowboy-Old Time-Hawaiian-Swing band! Tight vocals and creative arrangements of traditional favorites will have toes tapping and hands clapping. Other Activities of Interest

Painted silk designs featured in fashion show at Highland Art CenterBring the whole family along--there are plenty of activities for everyone at Weaverville's month-long celebration of Autumn in the Alps. Here are some of the activities taking place on the same day as the Quilt Show:

Art Cruise - the first Saturday of each month marks this tour of local galleries, each display works of art accompanied by fine refreshments. Stroll the downtown Historic District, meet the artists and see their work while enjoying autumn twilight in the alps. Pick up an Art Cruise directory at the Main Street Gallery or Chamber of Commerce.

Jake Jackson Museum features the history of Trinity County. See their new building expansion, soon to house a working recreation of a Carpentry/Wheelwright shop. Also features restored stamp mill, ditchtenders cabin & blacksmith shop. Current textile display features "Bedroom Secrets of Trinity County"--a look at nightwear from 1860 to 1930 and the Cardermartori quilt. Open 10AM-5PM.

Joss House State Park conducts tours of the 1875 "Temple of the Forest Beneath the Clouds" used by early Chinese miners in Weaverville. Learn about the culture of our early Chinese community, view temple art and fabulous textiles. Tours of the Temple conducted from 10AM to 4PM on the hour, Visitor Center open from 9AM-5PM.

Lee Fong Park offers walking trails and a 9-hole Frisbee Golf Course. Located off Bremer Street, one block from the Quilt Show. Off-highway, creekside location makes this park a very "dog friendly" spot for family and Fido.

Lowden Park is the site of "Wee-ville", a great playground for little ones next to a shaded pavilion where Mom or Dad can rest with a good book (or a quilting project!)

Trinity Lake offers boating, fishing and swimming opportunities. 20 minutes north of Weaverville on Hwy 3.

Trinity River is the location for swimming, river rafting and fishing - the fall run of Salmon will be in full swing by October and trophy size catches can be had. 10 minutes west of Weaverville on Hwy 299.
