Clothing for Men

A stylish fellow and his adoring, obedient wifeIt is amazing how little men's styles have changed over the years.  Although there was a distinctive look to 1860's men's wear, most of the components of men's clothing remain unchanged even today.  Sack coats became sport coats.  Vests, shirts & pants underwent only subtle alterations as the years progressed.

This is a good thing.  It means that with just a few alterations to some modern clothing, you can outfit yourself quickly as a working man of the 1860's.  Fannie & Vera have some special tips to make your style transformation as painless as possible.  These items will get you through your first reenactment while you build your wardrobe of reproduction clothing.

More gentlemen are becoming involved in the Civilian side of reenacting.  Being part of the uniformed horde does not appeal to all.  Civilian reenactors can display their particular talents or areas of interest as a merchant or tradesman.  Our visitors are fascinated by portrayals of life as it was lived in the 1860's and respond well to demonstrations of tools and techniques used during this era.
