Empress style hat. These were popular hats for summer wear. Made from straw chip or done in felt, they always dipped down in the front and rear while the sides bowed up. Usually trimmed with long flowing ribbons down the back. Sometimes they were decorated with long plumes falling gracefully over the crown and with a veil of lace attached inside the edge of the brim.
