Lay Apologetics S ince discovering religion on the web in September 1998, I have been fascinated by all of the wonderful Catholic apologetics websites. Most are run by laypeople such as myself. Catholic View is an effort in conjunction with my amateur website, Examining Protestantism. These theses were developed after interaction on various religious discussion boards. They may become separate tracts. Catholic View Editor: Stephen P. Haws

Eight Theses • Peter, as Apostle to the Jews, and Paul, as Apostle to the Gentiles, were prototypes of Patriarchs or Archbishops. • James (of Jerusalem), Timothy and Titus were monarchial Bishops. • Christ grouped the churches of Asia into 7 dioceses (Rev. 1, 2) • James and the entire Jerusalem Church were under the jurisdiction of Peter, Apostle to the Jews. • Since Acts 2:10 mentions Jews from Rome, it would seem imperative that Peter, as Apostle to the Jews, would go to Rome to minister to them. • In any event, the Church at Rome was founded by Peter, via those Roman Jews converted under Peter's preaching in Acts 2. • The Church at Rome, and Peter's connection therewith, virtually began on day one at Pentecost. • There were Nuns in the New Testament Church. Bonus: Timothy (and probably Titus) were celibate, like Paul. |
