Anxiety

Disorder

There are several types of anxiety disorders.  And no one class of person in particular ends up with the disorder.  There are many thought causes of anxiety disorders from genetic, behavioral, and psychodynamic.

But my question is do you really understand a person afflicted with this disorder???  Would you want to understand why they are like they are???

Have you ever been so afraid to leave the house that you just cannot do it or you begin to shake uncontrollable?? This would be agoraphobia.  I have had this happen to me.  My anxiety disorder stems from my PTSD.  The shear terror of the thought of stepping out side the house over took my life for a while.  The thought of having someone be able to get close to me and touch me was overwhelming.

Have you ever felt the feeling of being boxed in?? Feeling trapped with no way out.  CLAUSTROPHOBIC??

This would be how several people with anxiety disorder feel.  They panic when they have to drive.  The cars close in on them.  There is no way out.  Some have to pull over and wait.  There is also the seamless easy trip to the grocery store to most people; this can be one of the biggest ordeals to someone that suffers from this disability.  To the point of having to just leave their cart behind and leaving the store and returning home with nothing to show for their efforts.

I have heard this so many times….

“ JUST GET OVER IT”

I wish it were just that simple.  There is no just getting over it.  Trust me everyone that I know with a panic disorder wishes that they could “Just Get Over It”.   All of us with panic disorders need to have support and to have our supporters understand that we are just as frustrated and upset with our feelings as they are.  That we would love to make it go away, that we would love to be normal again, but who really knows what normal is any more. Not me.

So, please, you might know someone that is too afraid to express that they have this illness.  They could be your aunt, your cousin, your co-worker, or your best friend but they are too ashamed to let you know that they suffer from the problem because they don’t think you could ever understand.  Well take the time to understand and help others to understand.
