 | MYCOPLASMA TESTING
BY COMPLEMENT FIXATION (MCF)
 | Arthritis Research Center
19212 Orbit Drive
Gaitherburg, MD 20879
Web site: www.rheumatic.org
However, this test is useful for monitoring progress once a person has been on
treatment. After 6-8 weeks of treatment the patient need only stop treatment for one day
prior to taking the test. The MCF test will detect cytoplasmic antigens which are
released from the dying mycoplasma cells.
The MCF test is not used to detect Mycoplasma prior to treatment. (It is an
antigen/antibody type test and will often yield a false negative).
