Cascade Station's History

Cascade Station, registry NCC-SS003 is the Shasta County Chapter of STARFLEET: The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. She was commissioned as the Shuttlecraft T'Pau on Stardate 9304.23 (April 4, 1993), commissioned as Cascade Station on Stardate 9402.12 (February 12, 1994) and was the First Space Station to be commissioned in the history of STARFLEET. Her commissioning was attended by then FADM Rob Lerman, COMMANDER: STARFLEET, COMM. Kim Lerman, CO of the USS Simonov, our Mothership, FCAPT. Gary Decker, STARFLEET JAG Officer, and others. Capt. Bruce Sherrick was the first Commanding Officer of Cascade Station, and held that position until December, 1995, when he passed command of the station to her current CO, Adm. Ed Nowlin. Currently Cascade Station serves as the "Flagship Station" for Region 4, since the current Regional Coordinator is a member (And also her CO!)

In the genre of the "Star Trek" universe,
Cascade Station is a "Previously Occupied Cardassian Space Station" that has been modified by Starfleet by including one of the older model Ournal Class Spacedock facilities, and is located at the point where the Federation, Klingon Empire, and Romulan Empire all meet (In other words, in the middle of nowhere!). Due to the unique design of Cascade Station, she is considered a "Cascade-Class" Space Station, the first of her kind. This design allows Cascade Station to serve as Spacedock facilities for the smaller starships (Excelsior, Oberth, Miranda, Intrepid, Defiant) as well as docking support for the newer, larger class starships (Ambassador, Galaxy, Nebula, Sovereign) The Spacedock facility can accomodate larger ships, but only to a limited degree (After all, one Galaxy Class or Sovereign Class starship basically fills it!)
