In contemplation of Yom Kippur in September 1998, and what our Great High
Priest is currently doing in the Heavenly Sanctuary. The fact that
we are nearing the end of this earth’s history, knowing that Jesus might
change robes on this 1998 Yom Kippur.
Ellen White tells us, "When Jesus rises up in the most holy place, and lays off His mediatorial garments, and clothes Himself with the garments of vengeance in place of the priestly attire, the work for sinners will be done. . . . The probation of all closes when the pleading for sinners is ended and the garments of vengeance are put on.” The Faith I Live By, page 215. Then I went to the Bible to see what it said on the subject. In Isaiah 63:1-10. "Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? This That is glorious in His apparel, travelling in the greatness of His strength? I That speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art Thou red in Thine apparel, and Thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with Me: for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment. For the day of vengeance is in Mine heart, and the year of My redeemedis come. And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold:therefore Mine own arm brought salvation unto Me; and My fury, it upheld Me. And I will treaddown the people in Mine anger, and make them drunk in My fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth. I will mention the loving kindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which He hath bestowed on them according to His mercies, and according to themultitude of His loving kindnesses. For He said, Surely they are My people, children that will notlie: so He was their Saviour. In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His presencesaved them: in His love and in His pity He redeemed them; and He bare them, and carried them all the days of old. But they rebelled, and vexed His holy Spirit: therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them." Now since Yom Kippur with the Hurricane Mitch and its great loss of life, where before there would be hundreds lost, here there were thousands of lives lost. In 1999 there were 30,000 to 50,000 souls lost in Venezuela, and the year 2000 looks to be an increase in the judgments on this earth. The vengeance has begun against the wicked earth. "In And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns; and He had a name written, that no man knew, but HeHimself. And He was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and His name is called The Word ofGod. And the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it He should smite thenations: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fiercenessand wrath of Almighty God. And He hath on His vesture and on His thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." Revelation 19:11-16. "Doubly literal will be the fulfillment when the final accounting shall come. The scene will then be changed, and 'this same Jesus' will come, 'in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God.'" Acts 1:11; 2 Thessalonians 1:8. The Story of Jesus, page 138. "Those who travel these two roads are opposite in character, dress, and conversation. Those in the narrow way are serious and earnest, yet cheerful. The Man of sorrows opened the way for them, and traveled it Himself. They see His footsteps, and are comforted. As they travel on, they talk of the joy and happiness that await them in their journey's end." The Signs of the Times, June 22, 1904. "After Jesus rises up from the mediatorial throne, every case will be decided, and oppression and death coming to God's people will not then be a testimony in favor of the truth." The Ellen G. White 1888 Materials, page 493. "It was then I had a view of Jesus rising from His mediatorial throne and going to the holiest as Bridegroom to receive His kingdom."--Letter 3, 1847. Ellen G. White: The Early Years Volume 1 - 827-1862, page 78. |
