The loud cry of the fourth angel is the cry of the Bride and Groom.   It is more than just the message of Christ's righteousness.  It encompasses a call to freedom from slavery to Satan,  freedom from Babylon,  and the Elijah  message.
The  Elijah message of the loud cry bears consideration here because it is one of the Bride's messages.

    "BEHOLD,   I  WILL SEND YOU ELIJAH THE PROPHET  BEFORE THE COMING OF THE GREAT AND DREADFUL DAY OF THE LORD: AND HE SHALL  TURN THE HEART OF THE FATHERS TO THE CHILDREN,  AND THE  HEART OF  THE CHILDREN TO THEIR FATHERS,  LEST I COME AND SMITE  THE EARTH WITH A CURSE."  Malachi 4: 5,6 

    "AND YE SHALL SEEK ME AND FIND ME WHEN YE SHALL SEARCH  FOR ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART."     Jeremiah 29:13

   "OH  THAT I KNEW WHERE I MIGHT FIND HIM!  THAT I MIGHT COME EVEN TO HIS SEAT!"  Job 23:3.

    "AND  THE LORD SHALL UTTER HIS VOICE BEFORE HIS ARMY:   FOR HIS  CAMP IS VERY GREAT:  FOR HE IS STRONG THAT EXECUTETH  HIS WORD: FOR THE DAY OF THE LORD IS GREAT AND VERY TERRIBLE;  AND WHO CAN ABIDE IT?
      THEREFORE  ALSO NOW,  SAITH THE LORD,  TURN YE EVEN TO  ME WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH FASTING, AND WITH WEEPING,  AND WITH MOURNING: AND REND YOUR HEART,  AND NOT YOUR GARMENTS, AND TURN UNTO THE LORD YOUR GOD;  FOR HE IS  GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL,  SLOW TO ANGER, AND OF GREAT KINDNESS, AND REPENTETH HIM OF THE EVIL.  WHO  KNOWETH  IF HE WILL RETURN AND REPENT,  AND  LEAVE  A BLESSING BEHIND HIM; EVEN A MEAT OFFERING AND A DRINK OFFERING UNTO THE LORD YOUR GOD?
      BLOW THE TRUMPET IN ZION,  SANCTIFY A FAST,  CALL A SOLEMN ASSEMBLY: GATHER THE PEOPLE, SANCTIFY THE CONGREGATION, ASSEMBLE THE ELDERS,  GATHER THE CHILDREN,  AND THOSE THAT SUCK THE BREAST; LET THE BRIDEGROOM GO FORTH OF HIS CHAMBER,  AND LET THE BRIDE OUT OF HER CLOSET,  LET THE PRIESTS,  THE MINISTERS OF THE LORD,  WEEP BETWEEN THE PORCH AND THE ALTAR, AND LET THEM SAY, SPARE THY PEOPLE, O LORD,   AND  GIVE  NOT THINE HERITAGE TO REPROACH,   THAT  THE HEATHEN SHOULD RULE OVER THEM: WHEREFORE SHOULD THEY SAY AMONG THE PEOPLE, WHERE IS THEIR GOD?"        Joel 2:11-17 

   In these texts the Elijah message and loud cry call of the latter rain  are tied together.   The message of Malachi is tied to that of Jeremiah and Job and these in turn are tied to Joel 2:11-17.  This passage in Joel comes just before the  mention of the former and latter rain (verse 23).   This is the  loud  cry call  for  the  Lord's  people to return unto the Lord.    The  composer  Felix Mendellson,   no  doubt under inspiration of the Holy Spirit,  put these  texts together in his Aria from Elijah.

   "Ye People,  rend your hearts,  rend your hearts,  and  not your garments;  for your trangressions the Prophet Elijah hath
sealed the Heavens through the word of God.   I  therefore say to ye,  Forsake your idols,  return to God;  for He is slow to
anger, and merciful, and kind, and gracious, and repenteth Him of  the evil.   "If with all your hearts ye truly seek me,  ye
 shall ever surely find me."  Thus saith our God. Oh!  that I knew where I might find Him, that I might even come before His presence!"

    This  surely is the call for God's people today but not only to rend  their hearts  but  their garments also, for their sins ascend unto God unrepented of. And worse they do not even know where they might find Him. 

    The  call today is to "REND YOUR HEARTS"  and "RETURN UNTO THE  LORD"   and receive  the latter rain of the Holy Spirit.   Joel goes on to say that "HE  IS GRACIOUS  AND MERCIFUL,  SLOW TO ANGER,  AND OF GREAT KINDNESS."   Isaiah 55:7 tells us "LET THE WICKED FORSAKE HIS WAY, AND THE UNRIGHTEOUS MAN HIS
THOUGHTS: AND LET HIM RETURN UNTO THE LORD,  AND HE WILL HAVE MERCY UPON HIM; AND TO OUR GOD, FOR HE WILL ABUNDANTLY PARDON."  The time to "rend our hearts" and forsake our idols, our wicked ways and unrighteous thoughts and return unto the Lord is NOW.  If we do He will have mercy and pardon us. 

    We  do not have long to  do this for Jesus work in the Most Holy  Place  is almost  finished.    If we do return to the Lord we have the added  promise  in Malachi that  the  prophet Elijah will turn the hearts of the  fathers  to  the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers.   Under the influence of this message all honest in heart families and church families will be turned in love toward each other.  There will be unity within God's people and church. This  is  a work only the latter rain of the Holy Spirit can  accomplish, and constitutes  a  sanctifying of the heart temple.   This is the  time  when  the "Bridegroom  goes  forth  out of His chamber"  and the "bride comes out of  her closet (bedroom),"  after the marriage of the Lamb to the Bride (sealing of the 144,000), and after the loud cry has begun.

    This  message also comes at the time when the priests and ministers of  the Lord  (144,000  and other elect)  are described by Joel as weeping "between the porch and the altar." 

    To  better  understand  this phrase and what is happening we need  to  know where this porch in the temple is located and what altar is referred to.  There is  only  one  place  in the temple of Solomon where  a  porch  or  portico  is described and this is at the door or  entrance to  the  Holy Place or the first compartment.    The altar mentioned here is the altar of burnt offerings,  the place where people brought their sacrifices to atone for their sins.  As all of us know, this symbolism in ancient  times  pointed to Jesus the Lamb of God who shed  His  blood to save  us from our sins,  thus ending  the  dispensation  of
sacrifices. 

    In 1844  we know Jesus went from the Holy Place into the Most Holy Place to finish  His work of atonement.   As was pointed out this began the time of  the latter  rain of His Spirit.   Applying the knowledge of where  the  weeping  is described  as taking place,  how and when the ancient services were  performed, what  Jesus  is presently doing in the Most Holy Place,  and tying all this  to what Ezekiel  describes  happening  during  this  time,  we  can  come  to  an understanding of why the 144,000 and other chosen elect are weeping, and why we know this prophecy will soon be history. 

    "I BESEECH YOU THEREFORE,  BRETHREN, BY THE MERCIES OF GOD, THAT  YE  PRESENT  YOUR  BODIES  A  LIVING  SACRIFICE,   HOLY, ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD, WHICH IS YOUR REASONABLE SERVICE."   Romans 12:1.

    Paul's  instruction  in  this  text points directly to the  act  of  giving ourselves to the Lord as a willing sacrifice.  Rather than offering an  animal as  was  done  in ancient times.  We are to present ourselves unto  the  Lord. Jesus is just now in the Most Holy Place pleading His blood for our sins before the  Father.  His blood covers for our mistakes making us perfect  before  the Father.  But in order for this to happen, we must continually give ourselves to Him asking forgiveness for our sins.  Most of us are not breaking the moral law as commonly understood, but the "self" and "I" sins are another matter.  These sins can only be dealt with by the latter rain of the Holy Spirit as described in  Monograph 7.  To begin  this process takes the giving of ourselves totally and  completely to the Lord,  the offering of ourselves as "A LIVING SACRIFICE, HOLY,  ACCEPTABLE  UNTO GOD."  In type this takes place on the altar of  burnt offerings which is before the porch. 

    The  sin  of selfishness is the primary sin and idol of the human race  and the basis of all  other sin.   Unless we can die to self,  there is  no hope of salvation.    This  is  the wickedness and unrighteousness we  are  to  forsake (Isaiah 55:7).   But most  of  the people in  the  church,   whether  SDA's  or otherwise,   have  not yet sought for the outpouring of the latter rain of  the Holy  Spirit,  and they are not able to die to self.   This is the other God in most so-called Christians lives.  God is a jealous God and will not forever let us willfully serve this other God. 

    They  are  not  coming  before the altar  of  the  heavenly  sanctuary  and presenting themselves totally to God.   They are not seeking Him with all their hearts  as  we  are  admonished  over and over to do.    They  ARE  NOT giving themselves  as a willing sacrifice and therefore ARE NOT acceptable  unto  God. These  people ARE  NOT  filled with the latter rain of the Holy Spirit and  are described by Joel as "CHILDREN  AND  THOSE THAT SUCK THE BREAST (2:16)."   They
are  still spiritual infants,  stunted and in an arrested stage of development, living in the former rain experience. 

    The reason the priests or the 144,000  and other of the elect are presently weeping BEFORE the altar is because the majority of those in the church are not coming to the altar to present themselves before God.   Jesus work in the  Most
Holy Place is almost if not finished.   There is no time to waste or they  will all  be  lost.   They will no longer have Jesus to plead His blood  before  the father.    The  priests are weeping because they realize this and yet  Laodicea sleeps on. 

   The  priests  are  willing  and waiting to  present  or  take  the  peoples sacrifice (the offering of themselves,  their all)  before the altar of incense in the Holy Place, to mingle this with their prayers (incense)  before the veil in  the  heavenly sanctuary.   These prayers (smoke)  must be presented at  the altar of incense  so that they may rise up and over the partition into the Most
Holy Place.   Without this act there is no hope for believer,  for Jesus cannot present  their  petitions  to  the Father as  acceptable.    Unless  they  give themselves as an offering they cannot be covered by Jesus blood for their sins. 

    When  Joel says  to "GATHER THE PEOPLE,  SANCTIFY THE CONGREGATION,"   this refers to the latter rain Sanctification experience. 

    This  phrase  "BETWEEN THE PORCH  AND THE ALTAR"  is also used by one other Prophet  (Ezekiel)  to describe a specific end time event that  happens  during this same time period and is another reason why the 144,000 and the other elect
are weeping, for this describes a tragic act taking place.

    "AND  HE  BROUGHT  ME INTO THE INNER COURT  OF  THE  LORD'S HOUSE,  AND,  BEHOLD,  AT THE DOOR OF THE TEMPLE OF THE  LORD, BETWEEN  THE PORCH AND THE ALTAR,  WERE ABOUT FIVE AND  TWENTY MEN, WITH THEIR BACKS TOWARD THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD, AND THEIR FACES TOWARD THE EAST;  AND THEY WORSHIPPED THE SUN TOWARD THE  EAST.  THEN HE SAID UNTO ME,  HAST THOU SEEN THIS, O  SON OF MAN?   IS IT A LIGHT THING TO THE HOUSE OF JUDAH THAT THEY COMMIT THE ABOMINATIONS  WHICH THEY COMMIT HERE FOR THEY HAVE FILLED  THE  LAND WITH VIOLENCE, AND HAVE RETURNED TO PROVOKE ME TO ANGER:"     Ezekiel 8:16-17

    Robert  Hauser  has made a very interesting comparison of this text to  the organization  of  the  General Conference of Seventh-day  Adventists.    Having discussed in Volume One In Such An Hour and Chapter Six "The Shaking Time," our
churches involvement  with the Sunday keeping churches and the  gold  medallion given to the Pope, it would seem much more than just coincidence that this text refers  specifically to the Adventist church.   The point of comparison made by Hauser is that the Adventist General Conference is composed of a  just  twenty five men.    It is they who have led our church into giving allegiance  to  the beast power and hence have turned their faces to the sun or Sunday worship,  as described here in Ezekiel. 

    Verse  17   also  supports  this  idea in that "the  house  of  Judah"   is prophetically  used  throughout Ezekiel and Isaiah to describe God's church  or the Seventh-day Adventist church.  Thus it can be seen that Ezekiel is not only describing our church but something that has already taken place.   The  verses following and the next chapter tell the terrible judgments the Lord is going to bring upon the house of Judah.  Thus the priests are also weeping for something that has already taken place but defines the present state of the organized SDA church which includes the leaders and those who follow them in their apostasy. 

    Further  understanding  about  when  this  event  takes  place  comes  from understanding when the latter rain came in ancient times,  for the  application in our day is in literal time.   The latter rain came shortly before the spring harvest  of  the grain.   This time occurs today at the end of  March  and  the beginning  of April.    This is the first month of the harvest (Nissan)  and is mentioned in Joel 2:23.

    "BE GLAD THEN, YE CHILDREN OF ZION, AND REJOICE IN THE LORD YOUR  GOD:  FOR HE HATH GIVEN YOU THE FORMER RAIN  MODERATELY, AND  HE WILL CAUSE TO COME DOWN FOR YOU THE RAIN,  THE  FORMER RAIN, AND THE LATTER RAIN IN THE FIRST MONTH."

    From  the  previous monographs we have shown why we feel this  time  period occurred in March and April of 1989.  If this be so my friends, where stand ye? Will you be lost for lack of rain (Holy Spirit)? 

    Malachi  says  that Elijah the prophet will be sent BEFORE  the  great  and terrible day of the  Lord.   In commenting about this text Ellen White had this to say:

    "Somebody is to come in the spirit and power of Elijah, and when he appears, men may say "You are too earnest,  you do not interpret the Scriptures in the proper way.   Let me tell  you how to teach your message."   3 Selected Messages 412. 

    Jesus referred to this  text when He said that John the Baptist was  Elijah the prophet, for he came in the spirit and power of Elijah.  Today we hear many voices proclaiming the message of Elijah the prophet.   They come in the  power of Elijah.  The loud cry  message is THE ELIJAH MESSAGE SO LONG PROMISED. 

    Now  is the appointed time of the Lord's salvation,  but "YE HAVE NOT  KNOW THE  DAY OF YOUR VISITATION (judgment)."   Will the Lord say this to you?    If this message goes to your heart and you are concerned about the outcome of your life, there are beautiful promises associated with the Elijah Message that need our consideration.  Joel 2:23-32 contains some of these promises. 

     "BE GLAD THEN, YE CHILDREN OF ZION, AND REJOICE IN THE LORD YOUR  GOD:  FOR HE HATH GIVEN YOU THE FORMER RAIN  MODERATELY, AND  HE WILL CAUSE TO COME DOWN FOR YOU THE RAIN,  THE  FORMER RAIN, AND THE LATTER RAIN IN THE FIRST MONTH. AND THE FLOORS SHALL BE FULL OF WHEAT,  AND THE VATS SHALL OVERFLOW WITH WINE AND OIL. AND  I WILL RESTORE TO YOU THE YEARS THAT THE LOCUST  HATH EATEN,    THE  CANKERWORM,   AND  THE  CATERPILLAR,   AND  THE PALMERWORM, MY GREAT ARMY WHICH I SENT AMONG YOU.  AND YE SHALL EAT IN PLENTY,  AND BE SATISFIED,  AND PRAISE THE NAME OF THE LORD YOUR GOD, THAT HATH DEALT WONDROUSLY WITH YOU:  AND MY PEOPLE SHALL NEVER BE ASHAMED.  AND  YE SHALL KNOW THAT I AM IN THE MIDST OF ISRAEL,   AND THAT  I  AM THE LORD YOUR GOD,  AND NONE ELSE:  AND MY  PEOPLE SHALL NEVER BE ASHAMED. AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS AFTERWARD,  THAT I WILL POUR OUT MY  SPIRIT  UPON ALL FLESH;  AND YOUR SONS AND YOUR  DAUGHTERS  SHALL  PROPHESY,  YOUR OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS,  YOUR YOUNG MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS:  AND ALSO UPON THE SERVANTS AND UPON THE HANDMAIDS IN THOSE DAYS WILL I POUR OUT MY SPIRIT. AND  I WILL SHOW WONDERS IN THE HEAVENS AND IN THE  EARTH, BLOOD, AND FIRE, AND PILLARS OF SMOKE.  THE SUN SHALL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS,  AND THE MOON  INTO BLOOD, BEFORE THE GREAT AND THE TERRIBLE DAY OF THE LORD COME. AND  IT SHALL COME TO PASS,  THAT WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL  ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE DELIVERED: FOR IN MOUNT ZION AND IN JERUSALEM SHALL BE DELIVERANCE,  AS THE LORD HATH SAID, AND  IN THE REMNANT WHOM THE LORD SHALL CALL."

     What wonderful promises are contained  in these verses.   Promises made to those who receive the latter rain of the Spirit.
"I  WILL  RESTORE TO YOU THE YEARS THAT THE LOCUST HAVE  EATEN."    What a beautiful  consolation for those who are weeping their way through this  period of  time.   This restoration is a restoration of the image of God in man  which was  lost in Eden,  a  restoration of the robe of righteousness lost  when  man sinned.    This  is a restoration of the knowledge about the love of God and  a restoration of man's perfection as when he came from the hand of the Creator. 

    The  food mentioned is symbolic of spiritual food and is the promise of the full outpouring of the Holy Spirit.    We will be filled with all the fruits of the Spirit, that spiritual food.  Verse 28 says "AFTERWARD," that is,  after the "RESTORATION," we will see the real power (fruits of the Spirit)  of the latter rain.  In fact the restoration comes by way of the latter or spring rain, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.  God's true church  eaten  away by the forces of evil (locust, cankerworm, caterpillar, and palmerworm), will be restored by His "GREAT ARMY," the 144,000 Michael and His angels leading the way. 

    This time  of the latter rain (verse 23) is when "THE FLOORS (of the Lord's house)   SHALL  BE  FULL OF WHEAT,  AND THE VATS SHALL OVERFLOW WITH WINE  AND OIL(verse  24)."    This is when God says "I WILL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT  UPON  ALL FLESH."   This is when "DAUGHTERS SHALL PROPHESY,...OLD MEN SHALL DREAM DREAMS (and)...YOUNG  MEN SHALL SEE VISIONS."   After the latter rain swells into  the loud cry and after  probation closes the miracles of  God  will then take place including  "WONDERS  IN THE HEAVENS AND IN THE EARTH,  BLOOD,  AND  FIRE, AND PILLARS  OF SMOKE.   THE SUN SHALL BE TURNED INTO DARKNESS,  AND THE MOON  INTO BLOOD,"  and all this before the second coming ("THE GREAT AND TERRIBLE DAY  OF
THE LORD." 

    We, my brothers and sisters are in this time spoken of by the prophet Joel. The  promised  latter  rain has been given and  many  are  sealed.    Many  are prophesying  and dreaming and seeing visions.   We only have a  little time  to wait before the promised power of the Spirit will be made manifest. 

    Verse  32   says  that  all  who  "CALL ON THE NAME OF  THE  LORD  SHALL BE DELIVERED."   Notice from where our deliverance will come.   "IN MOUNT ZION AND IN  JERUSALEM  SHALL  BE DELIVERANCE....AND IN THE REMNANT WHOM THE LORD  SHALL CALL.  The word "Zion" means "fortress."    Many texts refer to the Lord as our fortress (Jer. 16:19; 2 Sam. 22:2; Ps. 18:2; 31:1; 71:3; 91:2; 144:2). 

    But  deliverance  comes not only from the Lord (Jesus the Groom)  but  also from "JERUSALEM"  or the Bride.   The 144,000  and their Groom will be the ones who will  answer those who "CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD."   But also mentioned as having  a part in the deliverance of those who call on the name of the  Lord are "THE REMNANT WHOM  THE  LORD SHALL CALL."   These are  none  other than the spiritual offspring from  intercourse between  the Bride  and  Groom during the harvesting  and gathering time as mentioned by Solomon.   These too will have a part  in the deliverance  of  the rest of the saints the "NUMBERLESS  MULTITUDE WHICH NO MAN COULD NUMBER." 

    How will you answer the Lord's call to you?  Will you be on the Lord's side or the enemy's side?  Will you be part of the bridal party as it is received up into glory to  eat the food of heaven around that wondrous  table?  To  be with the 144,000  and the numberless multitude that no man can number?   Even if you are  not  a  Bride  of Christ you can be one of the elect that  join  with  the 144,000 to give the message we have to proclaim. 

    Now  is  the  appointed  time of the Lord's  salvation.    Those  who  have earnestly looked and sought for His silent coming in  His Spirit to their heart temple, truly know their  day of visitation has come,  for He has come silently as promised.   But for most, the Lord's message to Jerusalem "YE HAVE NOT KNOWN THE DAY OF YOUR VISITATION"  is also a tragic reality.   The day  of the Lord's visitation is NOW.  This is the time of sealing, the time of judgment, the time of the harvest.   The sentence to each man will soon be carried out.   It  will soon  be  said  "HE  WHICH IS FILTHY  LET HIM BE FILTHY STILL, AND  HE  THAT IS RIGHTEOUS LET HIM BE RIGHTEOUS STILL."

    As  we conclude this volume,  each must ask himself the very most important questions  ever to be posed to man.   Have I yet started on this  Pathway  that leads to eternal life?   Do I have  an intimate personal love relationship with the  Holy  Spirit?     Is the reality of  this  relationship part  of  my  very existence?   If you have to answer in the negative to the above questions,  you are not going to stand and be accounted as one of the elect.   If you are lost, you  will have no one to blame but yourself.   You certainly cannot  blame  the Lord because of anything lacking in the provisions He has made for you. 

    You will be lost for only one reason:  You have not been seeking, asking or knocking.    If you had,  you would have received.   You have not asked for the Spirit with all your heart.  You may lose eternity because you have been lulled to  sleep  by  the enemy or because you  have  let material interests win  your heart.  Even by the time you read this volume, catastrophic events have already taken place.  How can you assume that time is going to go on much longer?   Our way  of life has already changed.   How can you assume things will continue  as they have in the past?     Soon  will come upon this world events so terrible that they will literally make  strong  men's  hearts fail them for fear.   You cannot  in  your  wildest imagination  begin to comprehend what is soon to take place.   The angels  HAVE already  begun to loose the winds of strife and events will rapidly get  worse, for the final movements will be rapid ones. 

    By delaying  to  seek  the  Lord you have everything to lose and nothing to gain.   You will die and never see heaven.   You will be raised with the wicked dead at the end of the one thousand  years  and  see the joy of  the saints and their reward.   You will cry as you never have before, because for you all will be lost. 

    Oh,   reader,   think  about  this and make your way to the Lord  with  all possible haste.   If the statement "He who hesitates is lost" ever had meaning, it is NOW.   His love  for you is obvious  by His calls in the Song of Solomon. The woman in Solomon's song is YOU,  not someone else.  She represents each so-called child  of God.   You are either of  the church of Laodicea (five foolish virgins)  or of Philadelphia (five wise virgins).  Your salvation is absolutely dependent upon a very intimate,  personal love relationship with the Spirit, as we have been describing.    This  love  is  the very foundation of God's family ties. 

    Love  is  not  a  matter of church affiliation,  but rather  and  only,   a personal,  intimate relationship with your Lord and Saviour.   He has shown you just  how personal He wants it to be.   But He never forces Himself on  anyone. He will turn away with a broken heart rather than use force.  He is standing at the door of your heart.   What are  you  going to do?   Oh,  come to Him today. Don't delay.   For your own sake don't delay.  He can do without you,  although He doesn't want to;  but  you cannot do without Him.   He is the only place you can turn now. 

    Soon  you will either cry out to Him to save you, or you will call for  the rocks and mountains to bury you from the face of the Lord.   What will you  do? "BEHOLD I COME QUICKLY AND MY REWARD IS  WITH ME!"  Oh,  my friends,  is it not worth  anything  and  everything  to  make  YOUR  election  and  calling  sure?  MARANATHA!!
